Why Would Anyone Need Caller ID Spoofing?

Caller ID Spoofing at the surface may just look like a way to mess with your friends or cause trouble, but believe it or not they’re many good reasons why people, professionals at that, are spoofing their phone numbers every day.

Imagine if in the 1960′s the reporter working on the Nixon case didn’t have to meet with his informant in clandestine garages. Instead, he could have had the informant call him with fake caller ID information, thereby protecting his identity. Using Spoofcard, he could have recorded the call very easily so he could have records of it later, rather than worrying about hooking up tape recorders.

As a doctor or surgeon, you’d want to be available to your patients all the time, and using a service like Grand Central, you could have your cell phone ring if nobody picked up at the office. Unfortunately, you don’t want you patients knowing your personal cell phone number if they require a call back. This is where you’d call them and spoof your office number. They get the call back they need, you get to protect your privacy and everybody wins.

With the proliferation of Voice Over IP AKA VOIP, it’s now possible to make phone calls over the internet. However, many times there is no return number since the call originates from the internet — a place that is not able to be called back. It’s ideal to spoof your phone number from your VOIP so that if someone wants to call you back, they call back your real phone, not your VOIP phone.
